Here are just some of the bills special interests
Do you see anything wrong with this picture? Spending 700 billion wasn't enough so now the Senate adds $150 billion more to "bribe" representatives to vote for the bill. You don't have to research deep to know what extra line items were added. Pick a liberal, conservative or independent source and here's what you'll find.
1. 18 billion - clean-energy tax breaks for everything from wave-and-tide electricity generators to fringe benefits for employees commuting by bicycle.
2. Continued (key word) coverage of $13.24 of the $13.5 of rum excise tax paid by Puerto Rico and the Virgin Island on imports into the U.S. , through 2009. Estimated cost over 10 years $192 million
3. Make it easier for film and TV companies to use the domestic production tax deduction. (We need more liberal garbage on the air) Estimated cost $397 million
4. Exempt children's wood practice arrows from a 39cent excise tax. (Are you kidding?) Est. cost $2 million
5. Allow fisherman who received payouts from the Exxon Valdez oil spill to average their settlement-and-judgment-related income over three years for tax purposes. (pay like the rest of us) Est. cost $49 million
EXTENDING
1. Economic-development credit to American Samoa business. (I'm an American and I own a small business I don't get an economic development credit) Est. cost $ 33 million
2. $10,000 tax credit for training of mine-rescue teams. (This might make sense but should the company who gets paid train them?) Est. cost $4 million
3. Tax credit for businesses with employees from an Indian reservation, and accelerated depreciation for property used mostly on a reservation. (Oh good more Indian benefits, a brilliant use of my money) Est. cost $ 119 million and $295 million
4.. 50% tax credit for spending on maintaining short-line railroad tracks. (I must admit I'm at a lost for this one. It might be reasonable but it doesn¢t belong in a financial bailout bill) Est. cost $331 million
5. Seven year cost recovery period for land improvement at motorsports racetracks. (Perfect, then we can also pay for their health care when they break their bones) Est. cost $100 million.
6. Reduction of import duties on some wool fabrics, transfer of other duties to the Wool Trust Fund to promote competitiveness of American wool. ( Maybe my next business will be raising sheep) Est. cost $148 million.
Why did the line item veto go away? If the bill went up for signature but could have the above fat cut it might not be so bad, although I don't like a bill of any sort that gives any one man more power and authority than he should have. The majority of the American people, in pursuit of happiness have fallen asleep and let the federal government walk in and now they run our lives.
You do realize that once this bill is passed the federal government will control the mortgage industry (they did this to some degree with Freddie and Fannie), the Education industry (don't fool yourself if you think they don't. Schools get money from them if they follow certain guidelines instead of actually teaching and at the college level there are some 300 rules that have to be followed in order to receive federal funding. There are very few colleges today that don't take federal funding, Hillsdale college is one of them) and then of course we can add the banking industry. If Sen. Obama gets elected he'll easily put in Healthcare and poof we are well on our way to socialism. Don't laugh, just start looking at France , Canada , Australia and you'll see our stripes look similar. Call it what you want but at the end of the day it's pronounced socialism.
So what can you do? Pick up the phone or email your representative and tell them to vote NO. Tell them that you are the American people, that you work hard and that you expect them to begin today being ethical. For many it will be a first, but build their self esteem and express to them that you know they can take the first step and actually do what is right and not because it will put money in their pocket but because they represent YOU. Otherwise give them their 30 day notice and the website of ACORN, FREDDIE OR FANNIE where they can apply and will surely be given a job being paid in low to high millions.

And, just for facts as some dems are trying to say the add-ons were all pork to get republicans to change their votes, more democrats changed their vote than republicans. Actually, if none of the republicans changed the bill would have carried.
